Lulu Bennett

Lulu Bennett is a Northerner, London-based painter. She studied painting at Glasgow School of Art and Slade School of Art, and has exhibited across the UK and internationally. Last year, Bennett was shortlisted for the John Moores painting prize. Bennett's work twists and deliberately misinterprets British history through the lens of transfeminist theory and experience.

Bennett's current concern, working with a character called Samantha Pepys, a trans-feminised version of real historical figure Samuel Pepys, functions as self-documentation, historical fiction and a decadent refuge from a violent reality. Lulu is available for interviews.
